Garrett is growing! Since August 1994, we have annexed over 560 acres of prime industrial and residential greenfield sites into our city. Much of this ground lies between North Taylor Road and County Road 19 . It is accessible from State Road 8 to the north and North Taylor Road to the west. It lies only 1.5-2.0 miles from Interstate 69 and 1/2 mile from the main CSX rail line. The ground is suitable for development and municipal water and sewer mains are readily accessible.
The Garrett Underpass (State Road 327), provides easy, unobstructed access to areas north and south of the CSX railroad tracks, thereby increasing business and development opportunities.
Garrett’s housing market is also growing. Eleven subdivisions, containing 569 lots have been approved in the past fifteen years. Over two-hundred, fifty eight new single-family dwellings have been constructed in Garrett since 1995. We currently have three new single-family subdivision underway totally more than one-hundred and forty five new lots.
Two new commercial buildings have recently been completed in downtown Garrett, and the restoration of the old Sacred Heart Hospital into a senior living center is now complete.
